Generic Provigil ® Modapro - Modafinil 200mg - 60 tabs

Modafinil (also known as Provigil, Vigil, Alertec, Modatek, Modalert, Modapro etc.) is a memory-improving and mood-brightening psychostimulant. It enhances wakefulness and vigilance, but its pharmacological profile is notably different from the amphetamines, methylphenidate (Ritalin) or cocaine. Modafinil is less likely to cause jitteriness, anxiety, or excess locomotor activity - or lead to a hypersomnolent 'rebound effect' - than traditional stimulants. Subjectively, it feels smoother and cleaner than the amphetamines too. The normal elimination half-life of modafinil in humans is between 12 - 15 hours. So it's worth fine-tuning one's dosage schedule accordingly. Current research suggests modafinil, like its older and better-tested analogue adrafinil, is a safe, effective and well-tolerated agent. It is long-acting and doesn't tend to cause peripheral sympathetic stimulation.

Experimentally, modafinil is also used in the treatment of Alzheimer's disease, depression, attention-deficit disorder, myotonic dystrophy, multiple sclerosis-induced fatigue, post-anaesthesia grogginess, cognitive impairment in schizophrenia, spasticity associated with cerebral palsy, age-related memory decline, idiopathic hypersomnia, jet-lag, and everyday cat-napping. Depressives who feel sleepy and fatigued on SSRIs can augment their regimen with modafinil. In September 2003, an advisory panel to the FDA endorsed its use for treating shift work sleep disorder and obstructive sleep apnea

Before using:
Some medicines or medical conditions may interact with this medicine. ADDITIONAL MONITORING OF YOUR DOSE OR CONDITION may be needed if you are taking anticoagulants (such as warfarin), azole antifungals (such as ketoconazole, itraconazole), benzodiazepines (such as diazepam), carbamazepine, cyclosporine, hormonal contraceptives (such as birth control pills), hydantoins (such as phenytoin), monoamine oxidase inhibitors (such as phenelzine), phenobarbital, prazosin, propranolol, rifampin, or tricyclic antidepressants (such as amitriptyline). Inform your doctor of any other medical conditions, including cirrhosis, liver problems, kidney problems, heart problems (such as chest pain, recent heart attack, mitral valve prolapse, enlarged ventricle), high blood pressure, allergies, pregnancy, or breast-feeding. INFORM YOUR DOCTOR if you have a history of alcohol or other substance abuse, suicidal thoughts or actions, or other mood or mental problems (such as psychosis, depression, bipolar disorder). USE OF THIS MEDICINE IS NOT RECOMMENDED if you have a history of enlarged left ventricle of the heart (left ventricular hypertrophy). Contact your doctor or pharmacist if you have any questions or concerns about taking this medicine.

Cautions:
THIS MEDICINE CANNOT CURE SLEEP DISORDERS and it may not stop all of your sleepiness. Do not change your daily habits without first talking to your doctor. Discuss your level of sleepiness with your doctor at each visit. Do not use this medicine in place of getting enough sleep.
DO NOT DRIVE, OPERATE MACHINERY, OR DO ANYTHING ELSE THAT COULD BE DANGEROUS until you know how you react to this medicine. Using this medicine alone, with other medicines, or with alcohol may lessen your ability to drive or to perform other potentially dangerous tasks. DO NOT DRINK ALCOHOL while you are using this medicine. BEFORE YOU BEGIN TAKING ANY NEW MEDICINE, either prescription or over-the-counter, check with your doctor or pharmacist. CAUTION IS ADVISED WHEN USING THIS MEDICINE IN THE ELDERLY because they may be more sensitive to the effects of the medicine. FOR WOMEN TAKING BIRTH CONTROL PILLS, this medicine may decrease the effectiveness of your birth control pills. To prevent pregnancy, use an additional form of birth control while you are taking this medicine and for 1 month after stopping this medicine. FOR WOMEN: IF YOU PLAN ON BECOMING PREGNANT, discuss with your doctor the benefits and risks of using this medicine during pregnancy. IT IS UNKNOWN IF THIS MEDICINE IS EXCRETED in breast milk. IF YOU ARE OR WILL BE BREAST-FEEDING while you are using this medicine, check with your doctor or pharmacist to discuss the risks to your baby.

SIDE EFFECTS that may occur while taking this medicine include back pain, diarrhea, dizziness, headache, nausea, nervousness, stomach upset, stuffy nose, or trouble sleeping. If they continue or are bothersome, check with your doctor. CONTACT YOUR DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY if you experience abnormal thinking; chest pain; confusion; dark urine; fever, chills, or sore throat; irregular heartbeat; mental or mood changes (such as unusual anxiety, delusions, depression, hallucinations); red, blistered, swollen, or peeling skin; suicidal thoughts or actions; unusual bruising or bleeding; unusual weakness; or yellowing of the eyes or skin. CONTACT YOUR DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY if you experience difficulty swallowing or breathing; hoarseness; shortness of breath; swelling of your hands, legs, face, lips, eyes, throat, or tongue; or sores in the mouth. AN ALLERGIC REACTION to this medicine is unlikely, but seek immediate medical attention if it occurs. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include rash, itching, swelling, severe dizziness, or trouble breathing. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor, nurse, or pharmacist. This is not a complete list of all side effects that may occur.
